'Revolutionary Road', produced by Dream Works with BBC Films, won Golden Globe nominations for best motion picture in the drama category, best actress for Winslet, best actor for DiCaprio and best director for Mendes.
The film, based on the 1962 novel by Richard Yates, tells the story of a young couple's crumbling relationship and broken dreams in drab 1950s American suburbia.
The film will be released in the UK on January 30.
'Revolutionary Road' famously re-unites five-time Oscar nominee Winslet and three-time Oscar nominee DiCaprio for the first time since the 1997 box office smash and Oscar-winning Titanic.
Ralph Fiennes is also nominated, for best supporting actor for his work in Saul Dibb's box office success 'The Duchess', which stars Keira Knightley, Hayley Atwell, Charlotte Rampling and Dominic Cooper in a contemporary tale of fame, notoriety and the search for love, based around Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, a female icon of her time.
'The Duchess' was a Pathe Productions and, like 'Revolutionary Road', is a BBC Films co-production.
There was more British success at the Golden Globes as Dame Judi Dench was nominated for the best actress in a mini-series award for her role in the BBC's 'Cranford', along with her co-star Dame Eileen Atkins who was nominated for best supporting actress.
Kristin Scott Thomas was nominated for best dramatic actress for the French film 'I've Loved You So Long', and Hugh Laurie for best actor in a television drama for his role in 'House'.

Tom Wilkinson was also nominated twice for best actor in a mini-series for 'Recount' and best performance in a supporting role in a series, mini-series or made-for-television film for 'John Adams'.
