Real Radio Yorkshire runs Monopoly promotion

LONDON - Residents of Leeds are being given the chance to get their street on the forthcoming official Monopoly game for the city, in a competition run by Yorkshire radio station Real Radio.

Winning Moves UK, which has a licence from Hasbro to create the official Leeds version of Monopoly, is to promote the competition in a campaign to run on Real Radio Yorkshire.

The new board will feature local landmarks, after residents were invited to vote on what they wanted to see. However, one spot has been saved for a listener's street.

Ricky Durky, programme director at Real Radio, said: "We are delighted not only to have our own space on this iconic game, but to give our listeners the chance to win a space too named after a Leeds street that they know.

"It may be their own, a friends, relatives or even a workplace. This is truly a money can't buy prize."

The game will appear in October at several stores including Tesco, Waterstone's, Borders and WH Smith, and will also be sold online.
