Cory has spent six years at the radio industry body in a client- and agency-facing role, and was strategic planning director at the Radio Centre's previous incarnation the Radio Advertising Bureau, reporting to Douglas MacArthur, chief executive. At the Radio Centre, he reported to Andrew Harrison, chief executive.
At the Radio Centre, Cory worked alongside fellow directors Michael O'Brien and Mark Barber, and during his time at the RAB helped the organisation build radio from claiming 2% of advertising revenue to taking almost 7%. He was tasked with working closely with advertisers to encourage the effective use of radio.
Cory comes from an agency background, having worked at Universal McCann, where he was group director on Coca-Cola, one of the agency's largest accounts.
He will join former Opera radio boss Jonathan Gillespie, who moved to earlier this month, as one of possibly three leaders overseeing agency relationships for the search giant in the UK. Howe is believed to be close to appointing a third agency representative to complete the triumvirate.
The three will be tasked with creating better relationships with agencies, a sector Howe has identified as needing work.
Referring to the construction of his new agency facing team, Howe said: "We are actively looking to build our relationships with the agency community, something we have not had the opportunity to focus on recently, but is certainly one of our main priorities now."
