Playboy unveils new US website

NEW YORK - Playboy has relaunched its main website with a number of new features in a bid to attract advertisers and act as more than just an extension of its famed glossy title.

The new , which currently attracts 6m monthly visitors, features an array of original video, animation and interactive content with opportunities for user customization.

The free access, ad- funded website goes live today. Playboy rolled out a similar relaunch of in February. Playboy's premium online offering, Playboy Cyber Club, will still charge members for access.

A new entertainment section offers news and reviews for movies and music with a strong focus on the video games industry, with a weekly video blog from 'gamer next door' Jo Garcia.

The website also hosts an original animated series, 'Play-Mation Nation', as well as regular magazine features, showcasing travel, nightlife, style, dining, interviews and girls.

John Lumpkin, divisional vice-president and associate publisher of Playboy Digital, said: "We are excited and confident that the newly enhanced Playboy.com will create a greater value proposition for advertisers, complement Playboy magazine and firmly position Playboy.com as the number one entertainment men's site."
