The journey was claimed to be the longest journey for a game in English football. The unique one-day sponsorship saw Three reward the football fans for their support and help them stay connected to the club throughout their journey.
As part of the sponsorship, Three crowd-sourced Plymouth Argyle’s pre-match team talk via social media. Pundits could contribute their ideas through Twitter using the hashtag #ThreeTalk.
Lianne Norry, director of brand and communications for Three, said: "No matter which team you support, the one thing all football fans have in common is their love for their club. That's why we wre delighted to sponsor PAFC's away game so we can connect the club with its fans and keep them close together even though they are traveling 774 miles for this game."
John Sheridan, manager of Plymouth Argyle FC, added: "We were pleased to welcome Three as our official away fans sponsor for the game last weekend. We’re incredibly lucky to have such loyal supporters at the club, who travel up and down the country each week to cheer us on, so it’s great to see them recognised like this."
Cow PR worked with Three to support the sponsorship activity.
