Based in the Ultralounge on the lower ground floor, the grotto is a maze of icy tunnels, lit with LED colours reminiscent of the northern lights. Guests enter through a neon ice-cube which opens into a tunnel of interactive plasma plates, bubble icicles, and deep icy chasms.
Wellpleased also created an augmented reality wish fairy using video cameras and plasma screens to give the impression that fairies are landing on the children visiting the event.
An interactive floor uses live image video and a projector system to create an ice lake where guests can virtually ‘kick’ snowballs, ‘splat’ Christmas puddings, ‘smash’ baubles and unwrap presents to reveal ‘gifts’.
