
The 12 window displays are based on a ‘White Christmas’ theme and are inspired by music boxes.
Several displays showcase a bespoke capacitive technology system which allows passers-by to ‘wind-up’ the music boxes by touching details on the window.
Other windows feature a sound system from Condiment Junkie, which plays music through the window panes, turning the glass itself into the loudspeaker.
Condiment Junkie director Scott King told Event: "We used exciter technology to turn the actual windows into the sound delivery system."
He added: "The Selfridges team brought us in early enough that we could have input into what the visuals were going to be. We discussed how when you’re describing certain visuals you use words synonymous with sound, like shimmering or crystal. That brought us to music boxes, which have this wonderful childlike attraction but also musically produce crisp, subtle soundscapes."
Condiment Junkie has also provided experiential sound at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant The Fat Duck.
