Paramount's Kung Fu Panda joins New Year parade

LONDON - Mediaedge:cia has secured a sponsorship deal between its client Paramount Pictures and the annual Chinese New Year parade in London.

Paramount will use the deal to promote its new animated comedy 'Kung Fu Panda', in which Hollywood actor Jack Black voices the lead character Po. Po is a lazy, slacker panda who has to become a kung fu hero to save his home valley.

The parade normally attracts crowds of up to 300,000 to central London and is organised by the London Chinatown Chinese Association.

Po the panda will appear as part of the procession and the film will feature on branded lanterns and banners around Trafalgar Square and on promotional items handed out to the crowds.

Dan Friel, business director at Mediaedge:cia, said: "The festival is the ideal vehicle to introduce the film and its characters to a family audience, building excitement and anticipation ahead of the film's release this summer."

The Dreamworks Animation film will on general release in the UK on July 4 and also features the voices of Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman and Angelina Jolie.
