Despite being a much bigger earner, Winfrey dropped down to second on the Forbes list and raked in $275m -- making her the top earner in the list.
The top ten is completed by Madonna in third and then Beyonce Knowles, Tiger Woods and Bruce Springsteen in four, five and six.
Steven Spielberg is seventh and the former Mrs Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, is eighth -- one above her ex.
Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant completes the top ten.
The highest British entry is Coldplay at number 15 -- having earned $70m in the past 12 months.
Simon Cowell is next in 25th place (one behind George Lucas) with earnings of $75m.
The next highest-ranked British star is David Beckham at 28. After that there are only a few Brits on the lower ranks of the ladder.
'Harry Potter Star' Daniel Radcliffe is at number 70 and Hugh Laurie, the highest paid British actor working in American television, is at 94. The star of , the fifth series of which started last weekend on Sky One, earned $10m last year.
Scraping in at 97 is model Kate Moss who is reported to have made $8m last year.
