Orange said it expected to double the number of users to to exceed 300,000 unique users a month.
For the first month the exclusive advertiser on Orange's site will be another new film website, backed by the UK Film Council and called . This is designed to let people find out when, where and how a particular film is available to see - whether in the cinema, on TV or on DVD and other formats.
The Orange film site will offer news stories, features, celebrity interviews and picture galleries, while also helping its customers to organise their two-for-one Orange Wednesdays cinema nights.
The site includes a film finder service - a comprehensive guide of what's on covering approximately 600 cinemas including every major venue in the UK.
Users can search for a movie or search for what films are being shown by entering a town name or postcode. Once users find what they would like to watch they can invite a friend or text the details to their Orange mobile.
The site features trailers for every major film showing in the UK, and special video clips including cast interviews, footage of premieres, behind-the-scenes videos and clips from the movies themselves.
Orange will help visitors create special video packages for individual tastes, for example comedies, action and adventure.
Although the site aims to be comprehensive and rich-media film guide, its ultimate focus will be on user-generated content and what visitors to the site think. Movie fans will be able to share their comments in an open forum.
Paul Jevons, director of product portals and services at Orange UK, said: "The new site builds on Orange's long-standing association with film, whether that be Orange Wednesday, Bafta or our cinema advertising, and will provide users with a really rich film experience, especially if they are an Orange customer. This is also the first step in a number of significant changes to the UK portal users can expect this year."
