O2 branches out with Joggler device for busy families

LONDON - Mobile operator O2 is to launch a touchscreen communications device called a Joggler, priced at £150, which is intended to be used at home to help families stay in touch.

The Joggler, which is positioned as the memo board for the modern age, is a seven-inch touchscreen appliance.

Its calendar functionality allows members of a household to leave dated digital notes for each another.

The Joggler can also be used send SMS reminders to mobile phones and offers an allowance of 50 free texts each month.

The device has wireless technology that connects to broadband and can display news, sport, weather and travel updates.

It can also act as a music player, radio and digital photo frame, and its 1GB memory can be used to store games and photographs.

O2 hopes that the Joggler will become an indispensable tool in the lives of busy families -- a central hub where appointments, deadlines, birthdays and school run listings can all be stored.

Alistair Johnston, marketing director at O2 UK said: "We've developed the O2 Joggler with families in mind. It has been purpose built to help families better organise their lives."

The Joggler will be available online and in O2 stores from the beginning of April and costs £149.99.
