Revenues rose 12% to £633m and the company's Ebitda more than doubled to £132m from £62m last time.
The company sought to reassure investors that it would not need to raise any more funding before it breaks even at the end of 2003, as it has secured £542m in funding from companies including networking giants Cisco Systems and Nortel Networks.
NTL said UK digital cable TV customers numbers had passed the 1.1m mark on September 30. The company said it is on track to exceed its full-year target of 1.25m. It has also racked up 79,000 broadband subscribers and is well on its way to achieving its broadband target of 100,000 customers by the year end.
NTL said Arpu (average revenue per user) was also up to £39.50 a month from £35.10 in the last quarter, following a price increase. However, churn was also up on the second quarter to 1.7% a month.
Chief executive officer Barclay Knapp also announced that NTL would be slashing its staffing levels by 10%, with 1,800 jobs being cut by the end of this year. The cuts will be in management and centralised roles, not customer service, he said.
