Darley joins NTL on October 8 and will report to chief marketing officer Mike Hounsell.
His first task will be to build the cable operator's customer marketing team to help boost subscription numbers to digital TV and broadband services, while reducing customer churn.
Darley worked at Consignia for more than five years and has held the position of group customer relationship marketing director since 1999. He was responsible for developing Consignia's corporate CRM vision and award-winning CRM strategy.
Prior to his CRM role, he was consumer and business marketing director for the Royal Mail and he has held a number of other marketing positions at companies such as Bupa, Diageo, Labatt Brewing and Unilever.
NTL managing director Stephen Carter said, "Charles has extensive high-level marketing and sales strategy expertise and will therefore play a key role in delivering against this objective."
Darley said, "NTL has set itself some aggressive challenges -- reducing churn and migrating new and existing customers to digital TV and broadband. That's where I come in."
