NME launches 59p app for iPhone

LONDON - IPC's music weekly NME has launched an iPhone app that enables music lovers to download exclusive photos of rock stars.

The 59p app was developed by Umee and extends the NME brand to the iPhone and iPod Touch.

It features iconic rock photography such as a Kings of Leon gallery that includes 20 captioned images of the band taken by NME photographers backstage, on exclusive shoots and at festivals.

From the app, users can download the pictures as wallpapers to decorate their iPhones, upload thumbnail versions immediately to their Facebook profiles or save the images to their phones to keep or send to friends.

Anthony Thornton, editor-in-chief, at IPC Ignite digital, said: "NME has long been renowned for its iconic rock photography. This iPhone app allows us to take those shots from the pages of the magazine to music fans' phones for them to use and pass on.

"This, coupled with NME's fantastic access to some of the biggest bands means the app will offer the very best music photography on mobile."
