SpongeBob iSponge, Nickelodeon UK’s first iPhone app, was created in-house at Nickelodeon Digital.
Daniel-James Faulkes, digital producer, said: "One of our aims when developing SpongeBob iSponge was delivering great value for pocket-money.
"With iSponge, you not only get a game that’s as addictive as some of the best-sellers, but for a limited time, you get the fan favourite first- ever episode of SpongeBob SquarePants included in the price."
Along with the first SpongeBob episode, 'Help wanted/Reef blower,' and jelly-fishing game, users will get 12 classic clips of the show with more to download each week. A schedule tells users when SpongeBob episodes are appearing on Nickelodeon.
Nickelodeon UK is looking to explore development models, including shared risk and revenue sharing, and bring more iPhone apps to market.
Roy Edmonds, Nickelodeon's digital director, said: "This is a great opportunity for Nick UK to test the appetite for iPhone applications with children, and SpongeBob SquarePants, being one of Nickelodeon’s strongest brands and having the broadest appeal, was the ideal starting point."
Nickelodeon UK recently launched a new website with more interactivity for users and commercial opportunities for advertisers.
