The immersive activity will form part of the NHSBT's role as Glastonbury's health campaign of the year. The five day event kicks off on 24 June in Somerset.

The 'Be this year's headline act' activation will invite festival-goers to perform as a headliner on a specially-constructed 'Drop stage'. Afterwards, they will be able to share their experience on social media using the hashtag #headlineact.

NHSBT will also encourage guests to sign up to become a blood donor in the Green Futures field. Here, the cause will be joined by charities Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAid, who will also be activating at the festival.

Jon Latham, assistant director of donor services and marketing at NHSBT, said: "It is so exciting to be working with Glastonbury this year. The platform will provide such a great opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of donating blood, particularly among young people, who we need to be the blood donors of the future.

"We are planning to make the most of the occasion and are looking forward to meeting as many festival goers as possible."

Emily Eavis, organiser of Glastonbury, added: "Giving blood is such an important thing to do and saves people's lives, so we're really thrilled to have NHSBT at the Festival this year."
