Newton joins the agency this month, and will be responsible for leading digital on clients including O2, Microsoft and Comparethemarket.com.

His appointment follows a number of recent changes to VCCP's digital offering, including the departure of its head of digital, Michael Edge, in September.

Last year, the agency also boosted its search offering by hiring Amazon's UK head of search, Kristina Smith.

During his time at Dare, Newton led a number of the agency's key accounts, including Sony and The Football Association. He also helped the agency win the Johnson & Johnson digital account in November.

Before Dare, Newton also worked at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, where he was the global board account director on Dulux, and at Glue Isobar, where he ran the Bacardi, Eurostar and Philips accounts.
