MTV US raids UK schedule for latest reality show

LONDON – MTV has greenlighted its first MTV UK import 'Bad Dads, Phat Mums' as part of its autumn schedule of reality TV.

'Bad Dads, Phat Mums' sees two music fans recreate their favourite music videos with an added twist... they have to direct their mothers and fathers in the video to win the prize.

Other new shows to debut on MTV US this autumn include a competition to find the next big reality star, whose life is interesting enough to make a regular reality series, in 'The Reality Show'.

'Parental Control' features parents unhappy with their children's current partners choosing new dates for their offspring.

If the shows take off in the US, like 'Punk'd' and 'Newlyweds', it is likely they will be shown in the UK with local versions being produced.

In addition, MTV US said it was recommissioning the Ashton Kutcher prank show 'Punk'd', car makeover series 'Pimp My Ride', reality show 'Meet the Barkers' and dating show 'Next'. All are set to return in the autumn.

Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV Networks Music Group, said: "The new shows we've announced today, in addition to the four returning hits, continue to push boundaries and offer viewers new formats across all programming genres."
