Debuted at the TechCrunch50 conference in San Francisco yesterday, Kutcher with Katalyst Media partner Jason Goldberg launched , featuring a troupe of animated teenage girls commenting on various entertainment and celebrity gossip. Think 'Powerpuff Girls' meets 'South Park' meets Perez Hilton.
Kutcher, with his Hollywood production agency Katalyst, responsible for TV shows 'Punk'd' and 'Beauty and the Geek', told a TC50 audience that the website is based on the daily banter between his teenage stepdaughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Willis.
Kutcher said: "Teens just have a pulse on popular culture that is fascinating to younger and older demographics alike.
"We created the Blah Girls to provide a new twist on entertainment themed content, as we find this perspective to be hugely entertaining and something we believe web audiences will be attracted to and want to participate in."
The website is updated twice a week in blog and videos, ranging from 45 second to two minute clips rendered by animator Todd Goldman. It also offers an element of interactivity, asking users to ask questions, which receive personal responses from the three Blah Girls -- Tiffany, Brittney and Krystle.
Revenue will be based primarily on online advertising and product placement. Drink maker VitaminWater has already been featured on the site. Kutcher told the LA Times that he would like to see the Blah Girls featured on mobile phones, video games and television shows in the near future.
Kutcher and Goldberg founded Katalyst media is 2005 has been responsible for various TV and film productions, including 'The Butterfly Effect' and 'Guess Who', but Blah Girls marks their first foray into digital media.
