The 18th annual awards show will be filmed in a triple-stage broadcast from the Odyssey Arena, City Hall and Ulster Hall.
The Northern Ireland Department of Enterprise, Trade & Investment told Event: "It is estimated the economic value of the event to a host city is circa £10 million. Approximately 10,000 bedspaces have already been booked in Greater Belfast as a direct result of the MTV European Music Awards."
MTV said it is working with "more local suppliers than ever" on the show, which is expected to be attended by 20,000 people and broadcast to 500 million.
Companies involved number more then 90 and include Focus for AV, KDM for furniture hire, Blacksheep for venue branding and Show Inc for fencing and event crew.
MTV EMA 2011 executive producer Richard Godfrey said that working with local suppliers was a priority: "This is a huge event, which moves to a different city every year, so local suppliers are critical not only for their expertise, but they also help us reflect the spirit of the host city."
The awards will be hosted by teen actress Selena Gomez. Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jessie J are confirmed to perform.
The show will be broadcast on Sunday at 9pm on MTV.
