Movie director Peter Jackson takes the reins at Total Film

LONDON – Future's Total Film is launching a special Christmas collector's issue edited by 'Lord of the Rings' director Peter Jackson and featuring exclusive news about his forthcoming film 'King Kong'.

Jackson has helped Total Film commemorate the launch of 'King Kong' by writing the editor's welcome note at the beginning of the magazine, suggesting feature ideas and writing across all sections of the issue.

The Kiwi's Weta Digital agency, which worked on the special effects for the King Kong movie, created an exclusive cover for the magazine, featuring Kong fighting three T-Rex dinosaurs as he protects Ann Darrow, played by Naomi Watts who stars alongside Jack Black.

With each collector's issue, readers will be given a cover-mounted 'King Kong' film cell in a presentation card. Readers will also get the chance to find out more about 'King Kong' in a 10-page feature with photographs and interviews with members of the cast and crew.

As well as celebrating the new movie's launch on December 15, Jackson also gives his opinion on the things that excite him most in the movie industry. This includes four pages on Woody Allen, "the king of New York", and John Cusack, whom he describes as "simply the coolest man in the movies today".

Mark Dining, editor of Total Film, said: "Peter Jackson took time out of editing this year's most anticipated movie to edit Total Film -- this is a testament to his dedication to his many fans in the UK.

"Last year our readers voted for Peter to win four Readers' Awards for Return of the King and ever since he has made every effort to stay in touch with them."

The Christmas issue of Total Film will also give readers a glimpse into the film adaptation of the 'Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and takes a look at the cowboy movie, 'Brokeback Mountain', adapted from the Annie Proulx short story.

The Christmas issue of Total Film goes on sale Thursday December 1, with a cover price of £3.50.
