The retailer bought out partner Fleming Media in order to offer advertisers more ways to communicate with its members by controlling the entire site.
Gurgle was founded by Mothercare and investment fund Fleming Media in 2007 to let parents share advice and experiences through blogs, chat, video and Q&A sections.
It features more than 1,000 articles, 52 tutorial videos, an online ovulation calendar and a baby-naming search engine.
Gurgle released a statement to Revolution claiming that the closer relationship with Mothercare supports the site's ambition to be the leading information and social media brand in the UK pregnancy and parenting space.
"Gurgle will retain its independent tone of voice, but will take selected opportunities to integrate further within Mothercare," it read. "Furthermore, by leveraging the opportunity for greater reach with Mothercare, Gurgle will now be able to offer advertisers additional ways to communicate with close to 100 per cent of consumers in this key opinion-forming life-stage."
In August, Gurgle signed a deal with Reality Digital to introduce richer video and social networking capabilities to the site.
The deal will initially see an integration of the Reality Digital Opus social media platform into Gurgle's existing site to provide extended user-generated content and blogging capabilities.
Gurgle claims to have 300,000 monthly uniques and 100,000 members.
