Experian plans to integrate its Intact Automotive software with MMI Automotive's management system Automate, so users can export data between the two programmes and find data inaccuracies.
The company's said the deal would help the car industry increase its profitability and efficiency by maintaining accurate and up-to-date vehicle records, and cutting down on waste mail-outs.
Experian said that 1,600 people died in the UK every day, and that £18m worth of mail was sent to the deceased each year.
The company also explained that an average of 18,000 people move house in the UK every day, but 32% did not tell businesses of their change of address.
David Hayward, managing director of MMI Automotive, explained: "We recognise that data cleansing is a key part of [improving efficiency] as it affects all dealers, so we were keen to get the best solution on board to help challenge this issue."
Hayward added that Experian Intact Automotive was chosen after a review of MMI Automotive's data cleansing technology, and that the Experian programme was chosen because of the "accuracy and breadth of its data".
Rob Whalley, managing director of Experian's automotive division, said: "An average dealer's database holds around 10,000 customer records at any one time, making it a dealer's biggest asset.
"However, without regular data cleansing, dealers could be wasting a large amount of money on attempting to contact customers who have moved or even died."
