The app, Openness, ties with Mini's wider advertising activity for the convertible called Stay Open, supported by online banner ads.

Created by Profero, the app gives users access to an ‘off-beat' guide to London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

It also suggests more than 400 unusual and spontaneous experiences such as attending a Mexican wrestling match, joining a literary salon and jumping on a coach to an unknown destination.

Mini created the app sbecause it believes drivers of convertibles are more open to exploring the unexplored and trying new things.

Ysabel Vazquez, national communications manager at Mini, said the app aims to give drivers more than a ‘run-of-the-mill' motoring app, and will help them find 'excitement on the hoof'.
