
The '2012 Hours to Go' event will follow the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Visa Outdoor Athletics Championships, taking place in the stadium on the same day.
Visitors will watch the final hour of the BUCS session, which includes invitational events featuring some of Britain's top athletes.
Stars including Olympians and Paralympians will join a celebrity host for a series of stunts, games, challenges and prizes.
The 40,000 people in the audience will be narrowed down to a single winner who will be invited to officially open the Olympic Stadium from the middle of the venue.
Sebastian Coe, chair of Locog said: "This is a great opportunity for people to experience the venue that will take centre stage this summer. As well as a great evening of entertainment, this will be an invaluable test and another warm-up event for the Olympic Stadium."
Tickets for the event will go on sale from tomorrow (15 March) and are available from Ticketmaster, priced from £20 and £10 for concessions.
The test event begins at 7pm and is scheduled for the same day as the FA cup final, which kicks off at Wembley Stadium at 5.15pm. The two events are expected to put pressure on the Jubilee tube line, which will be the main route for travel during the Olympic Games.
