McCanns invests in digital with Manchester city office

MANCHESTER - McCann Erickson Communications House is to open an office in the city centre of Manchester under the McCann Metro name as part of its ongoing investment in digital communications.

It will be the first time in more than thirty years that McCann has had an office in the centre of the city.

The Prestbury-based agency said it will use the new location, in the Northern Quarter, for technical innovation.

The move by McCann Erickson Communications is the latest in a series of investments in the digital channel. In the past six months the agency has invested heavily in the recruitment of digital personnel, and in facilities such as its Digi-Lab at Bonis Hall.

The Bonis Hall operation already employs more than 45 staff and has clients ranging from American Airlines to Aldi.

Sue Little, chief executive of McCann Erickson Communications House, said: "The new offices are going to be completely different to the set up at Bonis Hall and are designed to be a centre of technical excellence and digital innovation.

"We are really excited by the potential of this new offering and believe it will act as a catalyst and feeder for the agency's main digital offering. We are looking to recruit the brightest digital talent and recognise that some people want to work in a city centre environment and this has obviously played a role in our thinking."

The new offices will open for business in March 2009.
