Story will provide tailored solutions that allow brands to tell a continuous story through creative, unexpected and fun event solutions. It will focus on PR, fashion, retail and consumer events, plus corporate and seasonal celebrations.
The company is being backed by Sam Gill, former board member of Concerto, Mask’s parent company. Gill will not have a day-to-day role, but will assist with Story’s development. He is currently helping it launch a venue search website, which will go live in January 2014.
Trading from West End offices, the London-based agency has recruited five employees including former Mask account director Melanie Rose.
Kay said: "I’ve always wanted to have my own agency and this was a dream situation. With Sam’s backing we can start with a team in place rather than it just being me on my own."
She added Story has already received enquiries and is pitching for events.
"It is refreshing to be able to start with a blank sheet and build the kind of client list we want to work with. There are definite areas we want to get into, such as fashion and we are hiring people to make it happen."
Kay has been replaced by Penny Porter who has taken the position of head of bespoke.
