
The Direct site will relaunch tomorrow with the aim of improving customer experience, which it hopes will drive sales growth. The site will include video footage from catwalks and information on stock availability. The site will also include reviews and ratings in search results, to assist customers in their choices.
The retailer has also introduced changes to its ‘Shop Your Way' service. The service allows customers to make clothing, beauty and homeware orders in store, online or on the phone, for home delivery or free delivery to their nearest store for collection. It will be extended from 46 to 163 stores this month.
M&S Direct reported sales of £324.4m in 2008/09, up 19.0%. It has set annual sales target of £500m by 2010/11.
M&S last week was overtaken by Asda's George as Britain's most popular fashion retailer by volume. George recorded its highest ever total volume market share for clothes sold at 10.1% in the 12 weeks to August 17, according to TNS Worldpanel Fashion show. Primark was in second place with 9.9% share andM&S was third at 9.8%.
