Marie Claire appoints Mathers as advertising director

LONDON - IPC has appointed Nicole Mathers, previously advertising director of Psychologies magazine, as advertising director for women's glossy Marie Claire.

Before her role at Hachette Filipacchi UK's monthly Psychologies, a version of the successful French title, Mathers was advertising director of the Australian glossy Madison. Psychologies launched last September and scored a debut ABC of 96,012, just short of its 100,000 target.

Mathers will manage Marie Claire's display and brand teams, and will play a major part in developing the magazine's website.

Mathers joined Psychologies from Sydney-based magazine Madison, a joint publishing venture with Hearst International. Prior to this, she worked as group national advertising manager for ACP titles Cleo and Shop Til You Drop.

Marie Claire has also promoted Natasha Giera, who has worked at IPC Southbank for three years, to beauty manager. Giera previously worked as a senior sales executive at IPC's women's general interest group of magazines, on titles such as Women & Home and Essentials.

Richard Johnstone, IPC publishing director, said: "With Nicole's years of experience and success in the women's market, she brings both a deep knowledge of the fashion and beauty markets and tremendous energy to the already talented team on Marie Claire."
