The Guardian Media Group regional title has relaunched with improved search functionality, provided by Fast, and site navigation.
The revamp came after a user-centred design process, undertaken by external consultants, Foviance. The revamp follows the launch in January of a new obituaries and family notice service, launched online in partnership with Legacy.com, the US-based online obituary website.
David Benjamin, chief operating officer at GMG Regional Media, said: "The redesign of the Manchester Evening News’ website represents the first in a series of exciting new digital developments scheduled for release during the forthcoming twelve months."
The redesigned website has already been given the thumb's up from users. Comments received about the new site have included: "Best of all the incredibly intrusive pop up driven advertising has gone; lovely, clear navigation; the site shows attention has been paid to the strengths of the web; a huge improvement on the old version."
