Along with the upcoming 2010 Labour conference and the 2009 and 2011 Conservative Party conferences, there are now five major political party events scheduled to take place in the city over the next five years.

"The return of the Labour Party Conference is testament both to the successful hosting of previous events and our focus on improving facilities to ensure they stay among the very best in Europe," said Manchester City Council leader Sir Richard Leese.

"Attracting prominent conferences such as this brings to our city not only prestige but real, measurable benefits through visitor spending, job creation and investment."
