
In a trading update released today, the company says it is “very encouraged that trading has continued to improve” in the second half of the financial year.
The results follow recent positive Rajar figures for the company, which owns and operates 28 local stations across the country. In the second quarter, it reported a total audience of 920,000 weekly listeners who were listening for 7.7 million hours – annual increases of 5% and 6% respectively.
Richard Wheatly, The Local Radio Company’s executive chairman, said the steps he had taken to improve the performance of his radio network had “begun to take effect”. He added that the company was “looking forward to next year with a renewed sense of optimism”.
