TLRC revenues pick up in March

LONDON –The Local Radio Company is set to record its highest monthly revenues in almost a year this month, according to a trading update released today.

The company, which owns half of local sales house First Radio Sales, reported that revenues from national sales have been “exceptionally high in the last three months”, after a weaker first quarter.

Weaker local revenues from December to February have been put down to seasonality but sales in March were “significantly ahead”, said chief executive Richard Wheatly.

While overall like-for-like sales revenues were down 7% during Q4, the outlook for March puts revenue at its highest monthly level since May 2006.

Rajar results for Q4 2006 showed a record number of listeners to TLRC stations, at 924,000.

Bosses predict a “steady improvement” in like-for-like sales over the second half of the financial year.

The group will post results for the six months to 31 March in May.
