Experian acquired the Future Foundation in 2005.
Co-founder of the Future Foundation, Melanie Howard, has rejoined the business as executive chair, with Lloyd as an active shareholder and non-executive director.
Christophe Jouan has been appointed chief executive and Meabh Quoirin becomes managing director.
Lloyd, a regular investor in DM-related businesses, said venture capital was not involved in the deal.
"The buy-out has enabled an excellent team of people to free themselves of a big corporation and do what they want to do for clients," Lloyd said. "The MBO gives them the scope to move internationally with their products and services."
Jouan said the acquisition meant that the Future Foundation was "well-placed to advise clients on how best to respond and capitalise on emerging consumer trends as we move on from the recession, particularly with plans to roll out our global trends service."
