Living TV buys hit US lesbian drama 'The L Word'

LONDON – Living TV has bought the rights to the US lesbian drama series 'The L Word', with plans to screen it in the UK from September 1 during a primetime slot.

The show, which on the Showtime network in the US, has gone down a storm there where it was recommissioned after just two episodes.

The all-star cast includes 'Jackie Brown' star Pam Grier, '24' star Mia Kirshner, who played Mandy the Lesbian assassin, and 'Flashdance' actress Jennifer Beals.

There are also cameo appearances from Rosanna Arquette, Kelly Lynch and Snoop Dog in the drama that tells the story about the lives and loves of a group of Los Angeles lesbians.

The Flextech-owned channel unveiled its autumn 2004 schedule highlights which include reality show 'The Hairdresser', following celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford as he runs his busy London salons, and the fifth series of ghost hunting programme, 'Most Haunted'.

It is also screening a new series called 'Close Encounters With Keith Barry', showcasing the talents of street-magician Barry, tipped to be the next David Blaine.
