'Law & Order: UK' bows out with 5.6m viewers

LONDON - 'Law & Order: UK' finished its run on ITV1 last night with victory in the 9-10pm slot, leading BBC One's 'Cars, Cops and Criminals' by 1.4 million viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.

ITV1 took a 22.6% share of the audience, three times the size of closest commercial rival, Five.

Five also said goodbye to its Monday night fixture of recent weeks, 'Paul Merton in Europe', which earned 1.8 million viewers and a 7.2% share.

BBC One aired police footage documentary 'Cars, Cops and Criminals', reeling in 4.2 million viewers and a 17% share of viewing.

Channel 4's 'Tower Block of Commons' continued with 1.4 million viewers and a 6.3% share, including the contribution of C4+1.

Channel 4 was outperformed by its sister digital channel E4, after US import 'Glee' continued to build its audience, notching up a new high of 1.5 million viewers and taking a 6.9% share, including the contribution of E4+1.

BBC Two slumped to just 780,000 viewers in the same 9-10pm slot with documentary 'Generation Jihad'.

However, it earlier brought in 3.3 million with 'University Challenge', after 2.4 million for the men's downhill skiing in the Winter Olympics.

BBC Three was boosted to a peak audience of 1.4 million viewers after 10pm, with its coverage of the men's snowboarding event.
