Kempton Park hopes to intrigue locals with musical meet

LONDON - Households in Surrey and London, close to Kempton Park racecourse, are to receive mail packs featuring a tuba player seated on a horse.

The packs are part of a campaign promoting a horserace set to a live performance of the adrenalin-inducing William Tell Overture played by members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Creative agency Mishief developed the idea and created the direct, advertising and PR campaign to promote it, in answer to a brief to reposition the Surrey racecourse as an entertainment destination.

The Classical Canter, which it claims is a world first, will be run as part of the Best of British Gala Night on Wednesday July 8.

Amy Starkey, managing director of Kempton Park racecourse, said: "We're really excited to be hosting the world's first horse race run to a live classical soundtrack."
