The ads, for Diageo's Johnnie Walker whisky brand, were created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty and directed by another celebrated director Tony Scott, who has directed such films as 'Top Gun' and 'True Romance'.
Part of Johnny Walker's "keep walking" campaign, the Scorsese ad features the opening sequence and Robert De Niro scenes from 'Taxi Driver', as well as the original score from the film, composed by Bernard Herrmann. It also features extras from other Scorsese films 'Goodfellas' and 'Casino', who are friends of the director in real life.
Other stars to have appeared in "keep walking" ads include Harvey Keitel and Italian footballer Roberto Baggio. Johnnie Walker has spent 拢100m on the campaign since 1999.
Richard Wells, UK marketing director for Johnnie Walker, said: "We are delighted that Scorsese has agreed to star in this film. He is an extremely inspiring example of what a person can achieve when they have the courage and determination to fulfil their dreams."
The ad encourages viewers to "keep walking" to achieve their dreams. The ad was made through RSA, the production company run by Scott and his brother Ridley. Art direction was by Claudia Southgate and the copywriter was Verity Fenner.
Starcom Motive handled the media buying for the campaign.
The ad breaks in Scotland early this month, and in the rest of the UK further into autumn.
