The retailer has approached several London shops with a view to holding a pitch later in the year. The review is being handled by The Haystack Group.

It is understood that the brief will encompass all of John Lewis' online communications including its online store and banner advertising.

It is not known whether Agency.com, which has previously produced digital campaigns for John Lewis, will be pitching for the business.

Lowe London, which was appointed to handle John Lewis' above-the-line business in July 2006, is also understood to work on digital briefs for the retailer.

The news comes shortly after the appointment of Gill Barr, the former Woolworth's director, who joined John Lewis as marketing director in June.
