Jobs site first to reveal ABCe data

LONDON - Totaljobs.com is to become the first online-only service to publicly reveal its monthly unique user numbers, after commissioning ABC Electronic as auditor.

The site, owned by Reed Elsevier subsidiary Totaljobs Group, has opted to produce the figures to boost transparency and plans to publish other sets of figures including the number of jobs people apply for via the site.

Totaljobs.com landed more than 1.8 million unique users in its last set of figures, released in October.

Online-only offerings including Cheapflights.co.uk and Handbag.com employ ABCe to audit figures but do not publish them on a monthly basis.

Andy Flint, head of client services at ABCe, said advertisers are increasingly interested in regular online audited figures. “To some extent it depends on the buyers and whether they demand increased accountability from media owners through more regular certification. But things change so quickly in online that advertisers want regular user numbers,” he said.

ABCe audits sites including Guardian.co.uk, Dailymail.co.uk, Timesonline.co.uk, Telegraph.co.uk, Sky.com and Sun.co.uk. All sites have associated print titles.
