At the same time, digital agency Agenda21, the company co-founded in November 2005 by former Media.com directors Nick Suckley and Peter Robbins, has won the digital media planning and buying account.
Both accounts were picked up without a pitch process.
The company will use the strategic and research departments within Interpublic-owned Universal McCann, headed by managing partners Abba Newbury and Yvonne O'Brien respectively, to evaluate how best to promote its business offline.
O'Brien confirmed the agency would focus on "research into their consumers" and work "initially on the main Totaljobs brand, but that could extend into others".
Following the research process, Universal McCann will implement all media buying.
As well as Totaljobs.com, the company operates vertical market job websites such as CWJobs.co.uk, H2Office.co.uk and Salestarget.co.uk. Between these four websites, it carries more than 200,000 vacancies at any one time. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Reed Elsevier Group.
Agenda21 will work across all parts of the Totaljobs Group. The account was previously handled in-house.
Paul Smith, group marketing director at Totaljobs, said the company selected Agenda21 because "in digital marketing, it's the cumulative effect of small differences played out over time that delivers the competitive advantage".
"It's one thing to get it, it's quite another to back it up with the necessary rigour in planning and measurement to make it happen," he added.
Agenda21 co-founder Suckley said: "We've got ambitions to get even smarter with our offering so we're on the look out for entrepreneurial clients, such as Totaljobs, that are forward-thinking enough to value what we offer."
