Jack Daniel's joins fight to save UK music venues

Whiskey brand Jack Daniel's has become the first key partner to join the Music Venue Trust's Grassroots Investor project, which aims to protect, secure and develop UK music venues.

Jack Daniel’s, , will campaign alongside Music Venue Trust, a charity that seeks to protect, secure and improve the UK’s grassroots circuit music venues. 

, senior brand manager at Jack Daniel’s, said: "We’re really proud to be one of the founding members of the Music Venue Trust’s Grassroots Investor programme. We’re in complete agreement that a longer term strategy is needed rather than a quick fix and we want to help achieve something really significant through this campaign and support the places where future legends are created in any way we can."

The news comes as the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced the creation of the capital’s first Music Venues Taskforce, which will aim to support and safeguard a network of live music venues. The taskforce will be chaired by the Music Venue Trust and supported by lobbying group UK Music and the Musicians’ Union.

The Mayor’s decision to take action has come after a number of p. Earlier this year, the Music Venue Trust also announced the launch of the Music Venues Alliance, an association of live music agencies, campaign groups, cultural organisations and more than 80 venues.

Johnson said: "I am a passionate supporter of music in all its forms. Live music is part of the soul of London and live music venues have been critical to the development of artists who have gone on to become conquering global heroes.

"Music is an essential part of our city and the job of the Music Venues Taskforce will be to ensure London can support a wide range of venues across the capital and protect its status as the music capital of the world."
