ITV1's Taggart trumps BBC's Crimewatch by 1.4m viewers

LONDON - ITV1's Glaswegian crime drama 'Taggart' beat BBC One's crime documentary 'Crimewatch on the Streets' last night, with 4.4m viewers and 19.7% of the primetime audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

BBC One's 'fly-on-the-wall' look at major UK criminal investigations managed to attract 3m viewers and 13.7% of the 9pm-10pm audience.

The Madeleine McCann documentary 'Madeleine Was Here' on Channel 4 managed 2.6m viewers, enough for a 10.6% share. The 'Cutting Edge' programme commemorated Madeleine around what would have been her sixth birthday on May 12. An additional 260,000 watched on Channel 4+1.

More crime, this time on Five, which aired its ongoing detective drama 'The Mentalist' which captured 2m viewers and a 8.9% audience share.

'Keep It In The Family', a new documentary from BBC Two attracted a 5.1% audience at 9pm-10pm as 1.1m tuned in.

The four-part series follows a number of professionals who have forged their own careers as they are forced to instead take over the family business for a fortnight.

Channel 4's More4 was boosted by a return appearance from George Clooney on 'ER' at 10pm-11pm, recording 874,000 viewers and a 5.2% share.
