What is the main marketing challenge you face?
The commercial radio market is hugely competitive in Lon-don. We need to ensure that listeners know how to access the Magic brand through radio, TV and online, so that we remain number one. We also work to keep our adver-tisers up to date and content with our creative solutions.
How do you come up with fresh marketing ideas?
Everything we do is with our listeners in mind - part research, part feedback, part creative flair. Anyone can come up with the ideas, from presenters to sales staff.
Does the team socialise outside office hours?
We have a lot of 'social work' - partly due to the great events that are always on the go. When we aren't doing that
we often take it easy in the sunshine outside Market Place on Oxford Street.
Is there a dress code?
Dress for the occasion.
What are the hours like?
Long, but it's worth it when we see the brand coming to life.
What are the perks of the job?
We co-promote plenty of concerts and events, so there is the odd hot ticket or two to be had. We recently held a secret gig with the newly reformed A-ha, and Whoopi Goldberg and Amanda Holden have been in to present shows over the past few weeks. There is never a dull moment.
Is there anything interesting about your office?
We have a giant fish tank, three Space Hoppers for office races and a Wii in the chill-out area.
What is the company like for training and career progression?
If you put your mind to it, you can go far.
Are there any downsides?
The random sights and sounds of Oxford Street that we hear from our desks, especially the tambourine-playing and the solitary saxophonists.
