Consumers visiting the fourth floor of John Lewis' flagship store on Oxford Street will find a garden themed area complete with (fake) trampoline, and lots and lots of Buster merchandise.
They can step onto the trampoline and don an Oculus Rift, which is kitted out with a Leap Motion detector. This communicates with a Kinect camera opposite to sense where the wearer's hands are. The wearer can then control the two foxes, badger, hedgehog and squirrel that appear in the ad.
There's only one Oculus Rift available and to keep waiting consumers entertained, John Lewis has created a more low-tech, 360-degree video experience, also available for consumers at home on the retailer's YouTube channel.
The experience was created by Adam & Eve/DDB with MPC Creative for John Lewis.
