Holiday Inn makes TV debut in £2.5m ready-for-business campaign

LONDON - Hotel chain Holiday Inn is making its UK TV advertising debut this month with a 拢2.5m campaign tempting business travellers with piles of pillows.

The humorous campaign created by Leo Burnett, which breaks on Monday May 13, will focus on Holiday Inn's hallmarks -- the choice of five pillows and the ability to check out while having breakfast -- and show what could happen if you don't stay at a Holiday Inn.

In the first execution, a businessman arrives late to a meeting with a cricked neck from a bad night's sleep, while in the second, another businessman is shown wolfing down all the pastries at a meeting because he has not had time to have breakfast. The tagline for the campaign is "Holiday Inn. You're ready for business".

Nick Barton, marketing director at Holiday Inn UK & Ireland, said: "This campaign focuses on our commitment to the business traveller, driving the message of our unique hallmarks that keep the brand ahead of its competitors. The business traveller is a key part of our business and we are going the extra mile to ensure Holiday Inn is the first choice among our guests."

The ads will run on ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and selected satellite stations until June 7. The campaign is being backed by national press and radio activity which lasts until the end of May. Media buying is though PHD.

Holiday Inn, part of the Six Continents hotel group, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, growing from one hotel in Memphis, Tennessee in 1952 to more than 1,500 hotels in 100 countries today.
