The new survey looks at the biggest UK websites according to category over the past year. It found that 's online store beat and to take the top spot, with Sainsbury's at number four on the list.
However, Tesco is beaten by when it comes to the most visited UK shopping sites. In third place was , purveyor of household goods and jewellery.
Topping the print media sites is , which has just announced it will soon start charging for some of its online content. It beat the , which has already got much of its site as subscription only; and , in third place.
This is despite The Sun Online topping the Guardian Unlimited in the latest ABC electronic figures.
Many of the categories were topped by the usual suspects: was the most visited UK auction site; topped the list of community and chat sites, beating off the teen site . is the most visited UK travel agency online.
