Henmania dominates TV but the internet backs Roddick

LONDON - Henmania has failed to translate into internet traffic, despite the British player, who is fighting for a place in the Wimbledon semi-finals today, seeing off competition from one of the country's most popular TV shows 'Coronation Street'.

According to research by Hitwise, Tim Henman's is lagging in popularity behind that of , who is the tournament's fifth seed and hotly tipped to win at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club this year.

The two players are at number seven and number six on the list of the most visited tennis sites over the past two weeks, with 1.25% and 1.35% of UK traffic to the sector respectively. At number one is the official site of the championships, taking a massive 67.73% of UK internet visits to the sector, and at number two is the Wimbledon shopping site.

However, when it comes to popularity it will be hard to beat Henman's match on Monday night, when 12.7m television sets were tuned in to see Henman beat the Argentine player David Nalbandian. Today's match against Sebastien Grosjean has seen play delayed due to rain.
