The Hello Kitty restaurant is undergoing a trial period and will officially open its doors in June.
All elements of the restaurant are inspired by the cat cartoon, from the interior décor and tableware right through to the food offering.
reports the menu includes a total of 37 Chinese dishes. Around half of them resemble the iconic character’s face. These include the Hello Kitty shaped dim sum varieties, which are complete with ears, eyes, whiskers and pink bows, as well as rice dishes.
Restaurant owner Man Kwong is behind the new venue. He approached Japanese company Sanrio, the cartoon character’s creators in 2013, and has been working on the project ever since.
The permanent restaurant will be situated at Canton Road in Hong Kong.
Hello Kitty-themed restaurants are currently in operation across the world in countries including Australia and the US, however this is the first themed venue to serve Chinese food.
