Havas, which already owned 40% of AIS, said the move was part of the group's investment strategy in the UK.
Havas Media's digital brands, including Media Contacts, will work alongside AIS teams to provide both integrated and creative services to UK clients.
The company is also planning to launch a global integrated network under the Archibald Ingall Stretton name, with offices in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia and Asia.
The expansion will include all AIS teams as well as Havas Media's digital brands -- Media Contacts, Lattitud, iGlue and Mobext -- which are already established in these regions. Offices in Spain, Portugal, the US and Mexico will open during 2008.
Stuart Archibald, partner at AIS, will lead the company's international strategy. Jon Ingall and Steve Stretton will remain focused on the UK.
Archibald, Ingall and Stretton said: "This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us and starts a whole new chapter for the agency.
"For us it's always been obvious that digital creative and digital media should work hand in hand so this move provides the perfect complement to our offering.
"Havas Media has built a tremendously successful international network of digital media brands and the chance to build our own network alongside theirs was too good an opportunity to miss."
AIS's clients include Skoda, O2, Dyson, EDF Energy, Pioneer and Abbey. It was formed in 1998 and now has billings in excess of £50m.
Alfonso Rodes, chief executive officer of Havas Media, said: "This has been a result of a relationship started over two years ago.
"Archibald Ingall Stretton has a similar philosophy to our group and their ability to fully embrace and leverage digital media is unique. We look forward to helping them build their network within the Havas Media platform."
